Russia and Africa hold Historic first ever Summit and Economic forum

The first ever Russia–Africa Summit and Economic Forum was held in Sochi, Russia at the Sochi Sirius Park of Science and Art on 23-24 October 2019. The forum was attended by African heads of state, representatives of Russian, African, and international business and government agencies, and representatives of African integration associations. The Forum was a strategically important step in creating creating a favourable condition for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Africa and will also diversify the forms and areas of Russian-African cooperation. Several trade, economic, and investment agreements were signed following the conclusion of the Forum.

The event which was chaired by the Russian and Egyptian presidents, were attended by more than 6,000 people. There were participants and media representatives from Russia and 104 foreign countries and territories. According to the Kremlin, $12.5bn worth of deals were struck during this historic summit.
